Füssen

The spa and holiday resort Füssen im Allgäu, Germany’s highest town, is located in south-west Bavaria on the Romantic Road and the Via Claudia Augusta. The town borders with the Lech River to the east and Austria to the south. With approx. 15,000 inhabitants, Füssen is the second largest town in the East Allgäu.

The town’s main landmarks, which are well worth a visit, are the mighty St. Mang’s Abbey and the late-Gothic high castle. The wonderful historic old town invites you to take a leisurely stroll and linger for a while. 

Füssen is surrounded by picturesque lakes, with the Forggensee to the north, the Hopfensee to the north-east, the Weißensee to the west and the Alpsee to the south-east. The districts of Bad Faulenbach, Hopfen am See and Weißensee are all part of the town of Füssen.

Those who are not yet familiar with Füssen will be amazed to discover that the world famous royal castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau are just 5 km away.t liegen.
