Hiking and Mountaineering

It is with good justification that the Allgäu is regarded as a hikers’ paradise. Many of the numerous lakes and mountain pastures are ideal for taking a leisurely stroll. Easy walks around the Hopfensee or Schwansee with the royal Schwansee Park or to the ruins of Hohenfreyberg or Eisenberg Castle, for example, are suitable for the whole family.

However, even avid Alpine mountaineers will find something to suit them in the Royal Corner. The nearby Ammergau Alps around Neuschwanstein Castle, the Tannheim Valley and even the Lechtal Valley offer the perfect backdrops for ambitious mountaineers. Several cable cars and lifts also make the ascent and descent easier and mountain lodges look forward to your visit.
